Jumping Ahead

Today, it leaked out of Microsoft that they were skipping the second version of their HoloLens augmented reality headset, and pushing forward to version 3.0, due for a release sometime in 2019. Microsoft is essentially making the argument that none of the competitors in the AR space have advanced to the point of being a threat to HoloLens, and that they can continue to push on with a massive revamp of the device rather than having to compete for market space on a shorter time frame. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next couple years.
