Goodbye, Motorola

Lenovo has finished killing Motorola and reducing it to nothing more than a marketing term. By laying off the vast majority of the remaining Moto workforce, a once proud company that sported 20,000 employees in 2012 has been reduced to about 300-500 four years and two owners (Google and Lenovo) later. And with that shrinkage has come the collapse of their once strong position in the mobile space, the Moto G, E, and X lines being run over by stronger competition from Samsung, Xaomi, OnePlus, and other low cost/high spec competitors. Motorola joins Nokia, Palm, and a great many others in the acquired but dead area of the mobile industry. Goodnight, Moto.
